Plunketts Creek Township's Volunteer Fire Department's primary coverage area includes Plunketts Creek Township (which includes Barbours, and parts of Cascade and Gamble Townships), for a total 92 sq. miles, giving us the largest coverage area in Lycoming County, while serving approximately 1050 full time residents in addition to numerous seasonal dwellings and cabins.
2011 has started out a little slower than last year usual for our rural company. Residential structure fire, three vehicle accidents, and two ambulance calls.
As the year went on, September dealt a blow to our community and many surrounding communities in the form of Tropical Storm Lee. Single fammily dwellings suffered the ;following: Destroyed - 92,
Major damage - 56,
Minor damage - 33, Affected - 45
Inaccessible - 12. 3 apartment buldings and 4 mobil homes were also affected.
